About Tools Worth Owning

Who is behind this

I'm Abdullah Gerasimov, a licensed architect. I run Modern Acre Studio, where we design homes, additions and remodels, and I work with Temelar – Commercial Architecture on commercial buildouts and jobsite projects. Between the two, I spend a lot of time standing in half-finished buildings with a tool in my hand.

This site is where I write about the tools I actually reach for, in plain words, for people who want to know whether a tool is worth owning before they spend money on it.

Who this is for

How we pick tools

Every article follows the same order: what the tool is, why you will want it, how to use it, what to look for when buying, and where to get it. Here is what goes into the choice:

  1. I use it, or I have used something very close to it. I write about tools from real work, not from a spec sheet.
  2. It solves a real problem. If a tool only does something you can already do with what you own, it does not make the list.
  3. It lasts. I look for solid construction and a reasonable warranty, not a gimmick.
  4. The price tier makes sense for the job. A weekend tool does not need a pro price tag, and a pro tool should be built like one.

Each product gets a Worth-owning score out of 10, based on usefulness, value and durability. That score is my own opinion. It is not a customer rating, and it is not an Amazon rating.

How the site makes money

Some links on this site are Amazon affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It is what pays for the site. It does not change what I write: I will tell you when a tool is not worth buying. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
